Thursday is Ringo Starr’s birthday, which has become something of a holiday in MusicLand.
Yup, I was a Beatle baby. I was about ten years old when I really got into the Beatles, and knew I wanted to play music. I just couldn’t decided whether I wanted to be Ringo and play drums, or John and write great songs, or play bass like Paul, or guitar like George . . . I guess I wanted to do it all.
I’ve been fortunate to get to do all of those things (on a small scale!) and the icing on the cake is I now get to do it on a regular basis with my son and daughter.
But anyway, here’s a song I wrote and recorded as a tribute to my first Beatles hero, Ringo. I played all the instruments and did all the vocals, recording it track-over-track in my small studio when I was in Montana. Ringo, I hope you live forever! Tom
